The Recovery or the Rehabilitation process at Second Street uses the structured 12-Step process in treating addictive and dysfunctional behaviors. The 12 step process was first used by Alcoholic Anonymous as a clearly defined protocol to be followed to recover from alcohol dependency. However this is not merely a process to stop drinking or to stop abusing drugs. It becomes the foundation to starting a new way of life. The recovery process lasts for anywhere between 3 to 6 months. Though the focus is on recovering from addiction, the program works towards re-establishing the addicts as responsible and productive individuals. The program enables them to make life style changes and manage their feelings that will help them to abstain from alcohol abuse. The program also helps the individual to improve their health, self esteem and regain their confidence to be able to live a fulfilling life.
